We are planning to move very soon. The kids are all out of school now. There has been a whirlwind of activity in the apartment, with us packing and cleaning. We’ve lived here for years throughout the pandemic, and now it is unrecognizable, with everything moved and packed away. I am also noticing how much more sound travels in the rooms without objects around to absorb it. We are triaging our things into stuff to take with us, things we can sell, and things to give away. The kids are very excited about the move. My wife has been selling a lot online, and there has been a stream of people dropping by to pick stuff up. There is also a homelessness recovery (transitional housing) place here, that we have been giving a lot of everyday useful household items to. My older son is here visiting and has been a huge help all around. I’ve been spackling, painting, and repairing some spots around the apartment (which can’t wait until the very end because it needs time to dry before the next step), and we’re gearing up to do some very thorough cleaning once we are all packed. One reason I am posting this now is because I need to pack my computer and then I will be traveling, so I may not have many chances to provide updates until we arrive on the other side. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
